Century Church in Montgomery, Alabama, will hold a community prayer vigil this evening at 6:00 PM in response to a serious car accident involving Chera Doty, the church’s beloved Kids Minister and a deeply valued member of the Pike Road community. The gathering invites both church members and local residents to join together in prayer during this difficult and uncertain time.
Earlier today, Chera Doty was involved in a major vehicle accident and was transported by air to Baptist South Hospital, where she remains in critical condition. News of the incident has led to an overwhelming wave of concern, prayers, and support from the many people whose lives she has impacted through her ministry, friendships, and service to the community.
In her role as Kids Minister at Century Church, Chera has played a meaningful role in shaping the spiritual lives of children while offering steadfast care and encouragement to families. Her influence extends well beyond the church walls, making her an important and cherished presence throughout Pike Road and the greater Montgomery area.
Following the accident, Century Church has chosen to cancel its planned 100Y Youth event and instead open the church for a solemn prayer vigil. Church leaders shared that the evening will focus on healing, comfort, and peace, without structured programming, allowing attendees time for quiet prayer and reflection.
The vigil is open to everyone, regardless of faith background or church affiliation, reflecting Century Church’s commitment to standing with the community in moments of crisis. Those attending are encouraged to come as they are, united in hope and prayer for Chera and her family.
